How do you save in Silver Pines? Are there autosaves?

Answer

Silver Pines has no autosave — you save manually at telephones and phone booths.

Walk up to a payphone (or a phone in a safe room) and use it to save. Calls cost a little money, so always keep cash. There is a phone at almost every hub: the Miner Diner, the motel, every district entrance and each safe room before a boss.

How saving works

  • Phones only. A developer on the Steam forum: “You can only save manually through the phone booths dotted around the town. However, there are quite a few of them available as you progress.”
  • It costs money. Put money in to make a call. Money comes from cash registers, satchels, car trunks and bags — loot them.
  • Ringing phones are free. When a phone rings (usually Mr. Jackman), answering it doesn’t cost you anything, and that’s a good moment to save too.
  • Safe rooms marked with a phone sign usually also have a Storage Container and sometimes a vending machine.

Rules that save you hours

  1. Save every time you pass a phone with new key items — a death sends you back to your last call.
  2. Save before red-glowing doors: a red glow means a boss.
  3. Never spend your last coins at a vending machine if the next phone is far away.
  4. After the final boss, save at the nearby phone before talking to Eddie Velvet, so you can reload for all three endings.

FAQ

Does Silver Pines have autosave?

No traditional autosave. You save manually at telephones and phone booths around town. The developers confirmed on Steam that saving is only at the phone booths, and there are many of them as you progress.

Does saving cost money in Silver Pines?

Making a call from a payphone takes money, so keep some cash. When a phone rings and you answer it, players report you don't need to pay.

Can I get every ending from one save?

Yes. Save at the phone after the final boss, take one ending, then reload that save for the others.
